Dr. Saldanha's dedication to his profession extends beyond his clinical practice. Following his orthopedics training, he volunteered for deployment in Afghanistan, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. During his service, he founded the first orthopedic humanitarian clinic, providing crucial care to women and children affected by the war. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Saldanha served as an orthopedic traumatologist, training active duty airmen in war trauma techniques. Notably, he played a vital role in the development of the Sustained Medical Airman Readiness Training program at the 99th Surgical Operations Squadron in Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
During his tenure as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery with the University of Nevada School of Medicine from 2013 to 2016, Dr. Saldanha pursued further education in complex Adult Reconstruction under the guidance of renowned Dr. Anthony Hedley.
Dr. Saldanha actively engages in orthopedic research and serves as an associate editor for the International Journal of Advanced Joint Reconstruction. His scholarly contributions include numerous publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. In 2019, he achieved a significant milestone by earning his MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin.
Recognized for his outstanding contributions and commitment to excellence, Dr. Saldanha has received several prestigious awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Additionally, he has been inducted into the American Orthopedic Association's Emerging Leader Program and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Saldanha's professional accomplishments have gained widespread recognition. From 2020 to 2022, his peers have consistently acknowledged his expertise, naming him a Texas Monthly Super Doctors Rising Star. Locally, he has also been honored as an Austin Monthly Top Doctor from 2021 through 2023. Outside his professional life, Dr. Saldanha greatly values spending time with his wife and their two children.

Christily Alcantar is a dedicated healthcare professional with a rich history in both clinical coordination and patient access representation. She is known for her ability to work independently or collaboratively, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills even in high-pressure environments. Her diverse experience includes managing surgical schedules, coordinating co-surgeon cases, medication reconciliation, insurance verification, and maintaining interdepartmental problem-solving capabilities. Beyond her clinical acumen, Christily also shines in the academic field, presently working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Health Services Administration concentration at Strayer University.
Josh Brooks is an exceptional Orthopedic Physician Assistant specializing in orthopedic trauma and joint reconstruction. Currently, he serves as Lead PA at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, a Level 2 trauma center, utilizing his vast experience from Methodist Dallas Medical Center's Level 1 trauma unit. After completing his BS in Biochemistry at McMurry University, Josh pursued a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Renowned for his superior clinical and surgical skills coupled with an extraordinary bedside manner, Josh is a valued professional in his field. His memberships in honor and professional societies, active DEA and Texas PA licensures, and Basic Life Support Certification reflect his unwavering dedication to healthcare. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Josh is an avid golfer, enjoying the sport in his spare time.
Maddie Kalenits is a Board Certified Physician Assistant working with our trauma team. Maddie completed her Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Chemical Biosciences from the University of Oklahoma. She then earned her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge, LA. Prior to joining Texas Orthopedics, Maddie worked as a Physician Assistant in Trauma Surgery at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, and Pediatric Neurosurgery at Dell Children’s Medical Center.Maddie is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Central Texas Physician Assistant Society.
